Thanks David, although I am sure any properly trained scripting-type-person would look at one of mine and have a heart attack I have a feeling I come from the "use a sledgehammer to crack a nut" school of scripting with just a hint of "if it doesn't fit, hit it harder" (a skill I learnt in my previous life as a carpenter).

The widget, as it is, allows you to set the size of the "slideshow" to a certain percentage; 25%, 50%, etc. If the original pics are of varying sizes, then the slideshow frame will change sizes accordingly. It would be cool to be able to show the slideshow in a "fixed" size, regardless of the original pics. For example, maybe the slideshow could be set to 200 or 400 representing the number of pixels occupied by the slideshow. Every picture would then be displayed in the same size frame. This helps when trying to neatly place other widgets or objects on the desktop along with the slideshow.

What I would probably do is something like have a choice between the percentage size (as it is now), fixed width or fixed height. I guess it would be possible to add a fixed width-and-height option as well, but with the different aspect ratio of displayed slides there would be some blank areas within the frame. I could probably figure something out though.
It's going to have to wait for a while though because I have quite a full plate at the moment.

Two things though;
1. Ive had to resize quite a few photographic to be able to fit then on the screen as even at 25% they still filled the whole screen, (I wont tell you what they did at 100%).
2. Is it possibility for the widget to auto rotating the photograph when in portrait mode or is this something that has to be done in an external programme.
keep up the good work..
