How is it supposed to look when you drag icons onto the app "eggs" and are they supposed to be functional? Mine hang off the edge and clicking on them does nothing.

Yes, if you mouse over the app egg, the tool tip tells you how to position the icons
they work fine here. My testers found no problems.
