Version 6 is now available!

SkinStudio is a free skin creation applications designed to make it relatively easy to make skins for WindowBlinds.  With SkinStudio, users can change virtually every aspect of the Windows XP or Windows Vista graphical user interface including title bars, push buttons, the task bar, the start menu, explorer controls, borders, scrollbars, and much more.

SkinStudio 6 is a complete rewrite of previous versions of the program. Over time, as the number of elements of Windows that could be changed increased, the older versions of SkinStudio became very complex.  SkinStudio 6 is re-designed to provide skinners a step-by-step way of creating their own Windows visual styles that, upon completion, can be applied with WindowBlinds.

SkinStudio 6 is a free program. SkinStudio Pro 6 adds an animation editor, code editor, and syncronization tools and is $19.95.

This IS included with ObjectDesktop subscription isn't it? If so, I should see an upgrade available for it right?

Can the original version of a skin be saved now as you make changes?

Since I downloaded 6.0, can't change colors and can't reinstall prior version using archive function; keep getting error. Not sure who or where to post this issue either but it's annoying to say the least.

OH I didnt know that It just became available. I saw that it was available before but that was probly Beta right? And then Yesterday I saw that it was a separate install and not an update in sd central so i though I was oblivious and just didnt see that. So it just became available ehh. I love it. So much cooler. Wow. I love everything about it. It works better for me. I was haveing trouble with certain parts of a skin i am trying to make with 5 and With 6 i re did it and It was fine! It is also much easier to use! LOVE IT!!

Is there anyway we can have both SKS 5 and SKS 6 installed at the same time? I realize that you were able to do that with the beta, but, can you do it with the release version? I did not install the beta version...was waiting for the release version to come out.

I have both 5 and 6 installed, and thankfully so since 6 doesn't work properly. Why release a product with obvious flaws.

I've got both installed at the same time.

I'd like to know this too. That's why I still have SKS5 on my system.

Two points about SkinStudio 6 Professional, please: (1) I've enabled the code editor tab, but I still can't see it anywhere. How do I get to it? (2) SkinStudio 5 had a tool for identifying and fixing skin errors. I can't see this anywhere in the new version. If it has indeed been dropped, this is surely a retrograde step. Many thanks

I select a color for button face or any other idem I want to change the color of, save and apply, all seems to work but nothing happens. I uninstalled and reinstalled SS 6 - 3 times each with the same result. The prior version worked fine.

The new studio is crap compared to the old one. You can't click on an object in ANY preview window to jump to editing that object. You can't right click on the tree view, the tree view is poorly labeled and sorted. Need to delete a section? Tough luck, you can't anymore. I always remove the per pixel title bar and buttons. They suck since you can't add buttons or change functionality of buttons. I must be able to change the maximize button into an Always on top button. In the new studio you can't just right click on the per-pixel section and delete the whole thing. You can't even delete the per pixel section at all now, you have to open the image selection drop down list and scroll all the way to the top to set it to "No Image" on each individual per pixel object top, left, right, bottom, close, max, min, ... That is just BAD design guys. And what is up with the POPUP windows? Couldn't figure how to organize an MDI version so you just gave up completely and go with some crap wizard with popup frames, you can't have more than one open and focus is locked. Seriously, where is the improvement over the previous version? It takes ten times as long to edit/create a skin that it did in the old studio.
