Desktop icons/background
Will anyone be so kind as to help

HELP! On all the icons on my desktop where the text is there's just a colour box around it. I want to get rid of it and make it blend in with my desktop background, this must sound so noobish and whatnot but can anyone tell me how to do it please? thanks

Try checking it then unchecking. This is normally what puts the box around text. If still does not clear it up list any customization apps you are running and maybe someone will know which may be causing it.

I did check then uncheck and nothing still. I don't even know what customization apps are

flemmus...try changing the color on your background....right click on your background>click on your background tab...click on your color box...pic a color thats as close or match it to your background color >click apply...then okay....that should work....

I've done that too but i see other peoples desktop and they sort of make that box dissapear so you can just see the text and the backround.. thanks so much for your help though

sure ...anytime....if all else fails...maybe a reinstall...I've had to do it a few times....un-install..clean the registry...and reinstall...and all worked well....maybe even try to unload everything...re boot...then re-load....

eesh.. i've just re-installed windowblinds but now every time i try to load it up it keeps saying that i need to reboot first, which i have done about 3 times.. does anyone know how to solve this one aswell? oh, and THANKYOU sTonEbLuE you're a star

SOLUTION:
Ok, this is a windows xp visual performance option. If you don't have xp, well, sucks to be you.
*go to control panel/system (switch to classic view if you don't see 'system')
*click the 'advanced' tab.
*click the 'settings' button under the 'performance' heading
*under the 'visual' tab, tic the box with the caption 'use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop'. (If you are unable to change this value, select 'custom' on those little fill-in bubbles.)
