ATI 9200

I don’t understand, maybe someone can explain it to me. I have a AMD Athlon XP 2600 - 2133 MHz - 512 memory - With a All-In-Wonder 9200 ATI Radeon card. WindowBlinds 5 has worked fine since it came out. Yesterday, for other reason than windowblinds, I updated my card driver from 5.1 to 6.1. Now WB does not work. I tried to switch back but that did not work ether. So I searched the site and fond that WB will not work with the 9200. What gives???

Did you trying re-installing Windowblinds? I updated also and have had no problems.

No. But I will try. Do you have the 9200 card? Point is, it is not supposed to have ever worked..I had read that only the 9500 and up will work. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a 9200 SE, rolled back to drivers off install disc and everything works fine. Driver version 6.14.10.6483.
The 9200 series has not shown as supported for updates at ATI for a few updates, not sure how far back to when it is supported. I know at 5.8 had no per pixel frames for any 1280x res or higher.

This is probably one of those examples of "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

If an older driver worked fine...and a newer one did not...then it's the fault of the newer driver.  If switching back then doesn't work it will be because 'bits' of the newer driver are causing issues.

You'll need to fully remove the ATI card drivers from the system...and re-install the old one....

Or perhaps a restore to prior to the new install....if you have one...

If you need to do this, ATI offers a "Catalyst Uninstaller" which will remove all trace of ATI driver files from the system. You can access it via the downloads > utilities section of their web site.

OK- Tried everything that everybody suggested with no luck. Something was screwing with the driver installs. Kept getting display errors. Finally had to do a fresh install of OS. Hell it needed to be done anyway. Reinstalled original drivers from ATI disk and BINGO it's all good. I'm one happy puppy. Thanks all for your help.(9200's will work)

Not only does the Radeon 9200 work, but I am using a Radeon 9000 and it works like a charm. No problems here, what so ever. But yes, I have had problems in the past installing new drivers, when the old ones work. That's why anytime people tell me to update my video drivers, I tell them to go f themselves!

Yup, using ATI's Mobility Raedon 9000 (with Omega drivers) and it all works.
