GMail Crashing IE

Is this happening to anyone else?

Saturday, January 14, 2006 by Rutabaga64 | Discussion: Internet

I finally went through the process of changing my old Hotmail address to my Gmail account last weekend, and something odd is happening when I try to view Gmail in IE. Whenever I click on the subject of any email to view it, doesn't matter which email it is, IE crashes and shuts down, every single time. It also happens on rare occasions when I view Gmail in Firefox as well. Is this happening to anyone else? Or, as usual, am I the only oddball this is happening to?

.......it's just you.....

Look in Internet Options and see what it lists as your e-mail program. It could be the gmail virus scan doing something. I know AVG had a problem awhile back. If you're actually using AVG, let me know and I'll see if I can find it. Look in Administrative Tools/ Events; what's the error say.

I figured it was just me, it's always just me.

I looked under Internet Options, and MSN was listed as the email program. (I've had MSN as part of Verizon DSL and used it fairly heavily until recently.) There is no option for Gmail, unfortunately (is there any way to add it?). But I did switch it to Hotmail, since that was where my old email address was, and after making that change, the crashing stopped momentarily, but has now started again.

As for an antivirus program, I use Avast!, but I don't have anything programmed in for scanning email, guess I'm going to have to change that sometime soon .

Thanks for your help, yrag!

It's especially frustrating because I've been trying to use IE to view only one particular email, my daily comic strips from Ucomics. Adam@Home is completely blocked by Ad-Block in Firefox, so I need to read it in another browser for it to be visible. So that's why I've been trying to use IE. But at least I have Netscape too, so I can use that as well. But I've also sent an email to Ucomics asking them if they can figure out why that one particular comic is blocked by ad-blocking programs.

*sigh* All this work over a simple comic strip !
