How do I get rid of Desktop X? whenever I try this popup comes out and says "could not open INSTALL.LOG file"

do you have Stardock Central (the browser/updater/download mananger/intaller/uninstaller) installed?
If so, open it. On the pane on the left, click Object desktop. Find DesktopX in the list, highlight it and choose uninstall (either by right click on it or down on the bottom right of the browser)

Hmm, broadway_dude are you a current customer? Your profile shows that you are not. If you are not, you won't have access to Stardock Central.
If you are a paid customer, you'll need to go to the Stardock site, click on the Stardock Central link, put in the email addy you used when you purchased your product (DesktopX) and you will get a link to download Stardock Central.
Install it, then follow Bichur's instructions.
