Good Graphics Card

hey all, I'm looking for a better graphics card...any thoughts?

Hmmm I looked at my Intel 865 board. It apparently has only 3 PCI slots , but it looks like an AGP connector could of fit there but in this budget desktop board , Gateway removed the AGP port but you can clearly see it on the motherboard where an AGP slot is supposed to go.

Actually you can disable the onboard video most times through BIOS.
Let me know if you have any DDR 2700 sticks. By the way I would recommend Nvidia.

On some intel branded motherboards , You have to set the Video to PCI and the frame buffer to 1mb to gain your full amount of ram back from what the built in video controller used originally.

I have a fairly new PC, that is rather lacking. If anyone has any emeory laying around, these are the specs...

I just found out my graphics card (Intergrated Via/S3G UniChrome IGP) doesn't support the WB5 per pixel stuff...so I need to know of an inexpensive one that will.

Well, for starters....you can get any graphics card and it will be better then that onboard w/ that board (the board is a good one, as are the other specs). As a guess as to what other hardware is in that (and if you're not planning on updating the whole computer anytime soon), I would get a 5700/6600 nVidia or any ATI 9000 series. If you look around (and can find them), you can get them dirt cheap.

The only downside to this machine is the 256 memory and the graphic card...change them and I think you'll be quite satisfied

It's not bad for what it cost and all. Not much extras...CD-Rw/DVD drive and five ports for USB, flash and stuff that I nevr use. I put an extra hard drive in the open slot you might put a DVD-RW. It's easily upgradable which is why I settled for it. (The wife and I ...I had my eye on something else....you know how it goes )
I'll look around for those cards. I've seen some when I was window shopping as it were, but most are out of my range under the circumstances. Thansk for all the help, and looking over the info I posted. You all are the best.

I checked it out but I don't know enough to know if I can use them...which one..or if it'll help with the not seeing perpixel problem.
