Logons & Boot Screens

I was wanting to know if anyone could please help me and point me to a good tutorial for making logon screens and also one for boot screens? I have read some on boot screen but they generally are not written that good and also don't really tell how to get the progress bar background transparent. Anyway, if anyone could lend me a hand, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for any help!
