GUI Olympics = GUI World Championships
It's almost time again..
Wednesday, January 4, 2006 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News
Hard to believe that nearly 2 years have passed but it's almost time to have another one.
Last time it was WindowBlinds, IconPackgaer, and Winamp.
What 3 categories would you like this time? Which websites would you like to see participate?

Since DesktopX seems like a lost child at times, perhaps a category for it, especially gadgets might help as well provide for some interesting entries.
I think WB is a given. It generates the most response and is highly popular.
After that I think IconPackager or ObjectDock.

WindowBlinds and DesktopX Gadgets/Widgets. The third category should be either WinAMP or WMP. (Ideally, WMP, because I actually use it)

| I'll echo those who want WB, IP and WMP and I'll vote for Sysmetrix or CursorXP |

Or, if you want to be really cool, how about Konfabulator (or, if you must "Yahoo Widget Engine") instead of DesktopX. (I know, heresy! But I bet that more ppl use the YWE than use DX, because the YWE is free.)

I'd vote for Vista themes (any software), DesktopX themes and DesktopX widgets.

WB and Icon Packager are definates - two of the main interests on the board.
Would like to see either Widgets or Sysmetrix for the third

Apart from the classic categories I would really like
to see an "Innovative Desktop Experience" category.
Where users of DesktopX and other applications could
create innovative, useful and interesting desktop guis.

Sounds good...particularly if it were left open to any GUI mod...from DX to Litestep to Aston to Nextstart to Hoverdesk, etc...
I think if one of the 3 categories was open to non-Stardock apps...it'd be great...eg Winamp or Sysmetrix...

For the non-Stardock application/s I'd pick Rainlendar, Sysmetrix or QCD. For Stardock applications, I'd pick WB, IconPackager or DesktopX.

I think it would be cool to have a catagory for skinning non-OD/Stardock software.
Otherwize I have to go with Icon Packer, Windowsblinds, and CursorXP.
I would say wallpapers too but I think anyone could win that just by searching for a tutorial.

In the words of Kristin . . . WOOT!!!
I like the three original categories. But let's add a couple more. I like cursorXp just because it involves creativity, and good design work. I like something to do with DesktopX and/or DesktopX widgets/gadgets. I also like sysmetrix, although it doesn't seem to be all that popular.
