Birthday Object

Wednesday, December 28, 2005 by NickCap | Discussion: DesktopX

Does anyone think it would be possible to create an object that can access an excel sheet or address book and give a list of the five closest upcoming birthdays you have? I come from a very large family and this would be very helpful to remember gifts and stuff!

Event reminders never seem to work for me, either someone else is on the PC when it reminds or I just dont use the computer that day. It would be nice to have a list sitting there on the desktop to constantly remind you and always in advance!! I hope someone knows how

If you use Outlook for your calendar keeping then there's a program called Desktask that will do it for you. Link There's also a Konfabulator Widget call PIM Overview which does the same thing (not quite as well IMO)

Hopefully CJD will come up with something for you. If not there's also a Konfabulator widget that will do it. It's called (appropriately) Birthday Reminder

This would be very easy to do if the data is in Outlook as the Outlook object model is extensive.
