Autimatic Print Screen!!!

Wednesday, December 28, 2005 by vensam | Discussion: Windows Software

I have a serious problem. Automatically the utility of "print screen" activates, is not a problem of harware, that is to say, it is not the keyboard. Is not a virus. Constantly and without stopping, the screen is captured, without pressing the "prt sc" key. I have Windows XP Professional, SP2. There is a way to stop this?

How do you know the screen is constantly being captured? WHen I press print screen, I don't 'see' anythng happen. I wouldn't know it was constantly being activated if some program didn't make it obvious.

check your hot key configurations
also check them in any programs you have that take screen prints/captures/etc such as PSP/PS/Irfanview/etc

Wow, that would suck. You definately have a graphic program doing something here. Koasati didn't make it obvious, but he might have meant to say that this problem may be caused by soemthing other than your keyboard. Bichur's advice would be the best road, check all programs that have screen capture capability, then do a little malware scan.

I am with Koa on this, how does vensam know it is always being captured, when hit print screen nothing happens until you open graphics software and paste image. IrfanView can be set to auto with delay time, hit start and new window with image from clip board opens at set time, once close IrfanView auto stops. So if something is doing auto should be new window opening or you would never know screen is being captured.

not always so - i can set irfanview on a timer (take every so whenever) and have all shots drop into a folder - I know IV is taking the shots (only if I have volume turned up) since it makes a noise each time.

but I agree with the reasoning so far. so....

vensam...how do you know it's taking shots?

Yeah I saw that option, even setting to auto unless something is really screwed up vensam would have had to set it to do so. Maybe you suggesting to check apps in post 2 reminded vensam that he/she had set something to auto and forgot.

So do I , if no windows opening or constant pasting vensam, myself not sure how to, must be constantly checking clipboard. Clipboard works in background.

This thread reminds me of when I was an electrician in the Navy. We sent the new guy to the equipment room to req. a "Sky Hook" it was over an hour later when he finally returned and said there were all signed out.

I think vensam was just jerking your chain.

When I was in an aviation unit, we'd send out for 'prop wash', too.
