The classic: Black-Eye Peas & Ham Hocks http://www.basic-recipes.com/r/bep/hamhocks.htm

Black Eyed Peas for New Year's
Blackeyed peas have long been a tradition for the New Year's table. They supposedly bring good luck for the coming year, and eating them shows "humility". Some Southerners have been rumored to eat one pea for each day of the year to insure good fortune! They are a humble food, therefore, eating them represents humility. The taste of blackeyed peas are unlike other beans, and unless you've grown up eating them... you may find the taste a bit "earthy". http://oldfashionedliving.com/holidays/blackeyedpeas.html
Any questions?

Not so much when I add 12 cloves of garlic, an entire sweet onion, 3 jalapenos, soy sauce and a tad of sesame oil. They actually end up having an attitude.
How many more days until our next holiday?

1 1/2 cups black eyed peas and 3/4 cup Wasabi peas (or less if you can't take the heat!)and 2 tablespoons rice vinegar, reduce jalepenos by 1, and grind fresh peppper over it all, when served. Make sure there is plenty of ham also!~ Now you have a meal fit for a king!

HOBBIT's all the way!!!!
