IconPackager 3.1 released!

Sub-packages, Control Panel icons, and more!

Wednesday, December 14, 2005 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Change your Windows icons with IconPackager 3.1.  IconPackager is a program that enables users to change nearly all icons on Windows at once by applying packages.  It incorporates into the Windows shell itself to add new icon changing functionality to Windows itself! There are hundreds of existing icon packages available to choose from.  Don't suffer from ugly Windows icons a day more.

IconPackager 3.1 adds:

  • Sub-Packages.  This is a new feature that enables icon authors to provide several sub-styles of their icon package. For example, a sub-style might just have different folder colors from the main style which can greatly reduce disk size and make it easier to have more flexible icon packages.
  • Added support for Media devices icon to folders.
  • Added support to several new Control Panel icons.
  • Fixed bug with favorites icon saving/loading.
  • X64 support
  • New Control Panel section for changing the icons in Control Panel.
  • Fixes to lots of reported issues from 3.0.

Note: This is an important update as many new icon packages are likely to use the sub-package feature including the upcoming Apogee icon suite.

I am disappointed in this new Apogee set. There are NO icons for any of the Stardock applications!! There is also no pdf or eml so many are missing I don't have time to list them all. The free package Icon a Day has more files than this one has.

Mrs lynnyf... I too agree, after more review of this package, that it is missing too many icons. I sure expected a lot more with this package.

I don't think there will ever be another more complete set than Orion.

It is NOT changing the icons in the Control Panel - this new version of IP - even using the Apogee icons. Anyone else having this problem?

There is a reason why Apogee hasn't been announced yet.

64x64 icons will be in the final version and there will be additional icons in it.   I'm not even sure how you guys found Apogee.

I found it because it was listed as a Premium Icon pack directly from the iconpackager website. Saw it there yesterday afternoon and then the purchase option became available later in the day. Thanks for the update Frogboy!!!

We had to package them up early to test the Sub pack functionality. A bunch more File type Icons that will be in the final pack.

Also there will be more file types coming out in the future. I plan on realeaseing free "bonus" packs that will ad more file types as time goes on. Anyway Should have everything togeather soon.

Thank you so much for the update on the pack. Didn't realize that the package was only to test functionality... wonder if the purchase option should have went up so early. Anyways, they look awesome! I look forward to seeing the the other file icons and "bonus" packs.

I purchased the Apogee pack yesterday and love the icons and can't wait for the updates. Waiting keenly for IconX to be updated to work with the new IP3.1 features.

I've had to go back and replace individual icons as well, even though the previous config was working fine. Plus I keep LOSING ICONS everywhere and have to go BACK and fix them yet again...getting a bit frustrated here.

Lynnyf, if you already purchased the package i'm sure on object desktop it will show an update is available. If you don't have object desktop then u could always request your serial #'s and that should take u to the latest package available.. I'm just guessing here but usually thats how it works.. FrogBoy could answer this one better then me i'm sure
