WYSIWYG HTT (webview) Editor

Program Idea

Sunday, December 11, 2005 by mr.bo | Discussion: Customization Software

I've been reading over and over on some customization sites about how easy it is to edit Folder.htt files in order to customize and personalize your webview. Any time I've opened one it looks like gibberish (that kind of resembles HTML), but obviously I'm not a coder. I tried to import a Folder.htt file to a HTML WYSIWYG editor without any luck. I was hoping to plant the seed of an idea into the heads of all the talented people here.

A WYSIWYG editor for HTT files would be awesome. If there is anyone out there with the skill to make one I'm happy to let them know that there isn't much (or any) competing software that I could find. (although if there is I'd be happy to see it.)

hmm.... that would be interesting. I haven't played artoudn with htt files sinces Windows98 and ME. It's a combination of HTML markup and VBscript (and or javascript I can't remember right now.) Does that still work on XP?
Anyways, have you had a look at Virtual Plastic? http://www.virtualplastic.net/html/wv_main.html

Ah. just read through my own link there. (haven't been there for a while. Seems that it's a bit more trickier for XP, which I got...)

Actually Virtual Plastic was where I came from. I heartily agree with you on the complicated part (since it doesn't make any sense to me.) I understand that there are a bunch of CLSID links, and that isn't so scary, but getting them to work seems to be the trick.

I would love to see a program that would allow users to customize the content of the Web View visually. I like having the webview available in my folders, but most of what's there I don't use. It seems like a waste of a good thing.
