newbie needin some help

hello all, newbie ehere, awesome site btw. i am installing objectdesktop and all related apps (i got most of them one by one before i subscribed) then got most of the updates. i dont think i have them all in the correct folders, and was wondering why they all have url shortcuts on my start menu. any help would be great..
