XBox 360 coming Tuesday

The ads in todays papers were pretty much dominated by advertisements for the XBox 360. I also saw that some stores are opening early just for this event. I'm just interested on many WC visitors are going to buy their XBox 360 this week.
"Many retailers say they are expecting walk-up interest to exceed the number of Xboxes for sale on Tuesday. But not all retailers say they expect a problem.
"We're not aware of any shortages," said Karen Burk, a spokesperson for Wal-Mart, the country's largest chain of retail stores. "We're anticipating being able to meet the demand."
For those retailers that do expect more demand than supply, like Toys 'R' Us, Circuit City and CompUSA, early-morning visitors should expect long lines and systems designed to notify those in line whether they actually have a chance at getting an Xbox or not. "

no Xbox when it first came out - no Xbox with this release either. I'll wait for PS3 and nintendo revolution. (only play those platforms anyways - love nintendo have NES, SNES, N64, original green screen Gameboy *huge gray thing*, Gameboy color, GameBoy advance, Nintendo DS ~ and my PS2 & PSP)

I'm not going to get a 360 either. I know the PS3 will outperform it in terms of hardware and the PS3 has a bigger selection of games.

I was all for XBOX 360 especially because of the price advantage (I wan't gonna get it till next year and I am sure that whatever the PS3 is sold for... some say 400+ or 500 just for SONY to make a profit... it is going to be a hundred dollars less than the PS3) but I don't know anymore... I really liked my PS2 and I am a fan of Playstation.
Then again...
Plus with that whole rootkit fiasco with SONY... I was really just not getting the PS3.
But the games!!!!
They got the exclusive for GTA 4 and of course Grand Turismo VISION. Plus, it is said to be backward compatible for all games not just a select few (not that I have any XBOX games). As for the technology, from what I read it is simular to XBOX 360.
XBOX might have less titles, but they got XBOX Live and some cross platform titles like Final Fantasy and EA Sports games. Halo and some others too. Plus they have that connect to your PC thing going for it. if you want to, you can have a really nice entertainment hub at home.
I know you can do that with the new PS2, but it seems from what I ead so far, you don't have a choice. One system, no options to opt out of all of the extra stuff you won't use. XBOX 360 allows you to opt out and buy later.
Then again...

No one knows squat about the PS3 really, so speculating that it'll be better or worse than the 360 or Revolution (another mystery system) is silly really. Game selection is also completely unknown at this point so saying one will have more games than another (excepting the backwards compatability, but if you really care about the older games, just keep the old console).
The 360 is the only "known" item in the next gen console wars. The PS3 has already experienced feature cuts in an attempt to get it shipped in a reasonable time frame. Right now, rumors are it's being pushed back as far as 2007, which gives MS a HUGE lead to get a solid game selection out there. It'll also be able to compete on price better.
The fact is, Sony fans will buy the PS3 regardless of whether or not the system is better, or the games are better. Same for XBox and Nintendo fans. Actual merits of a system or games available don't matter a whole lot. Then there's those of us who will just have multiple consoles when all is said and done (I'm an XBox and Nintendo guy myself... never dug the Playstation games much at all)

I will get all three but I think the only one I will buy at release will be Revolution since its A) less expensive 
guranteed to have good first party games and C) trying something different

My 360 is pre-paid at the local EB Games store, but I may wind up waiting a while (not my choice) because of supply issues.
Wal*Mart (mentioned in the original article) may be talking the talk, but they most likely will not have supply to meet demand either, and once people figure out which stores have supply and which don't, there's gonna be a run on those stores too.
Anyone that wants the 360 for the holiday's and didn't prepay or at least pre-order soon enough is gonna be paying a premium to speculators/scalpers that bought extras and will have enough to sell on eBay or elsewhere.

Sony published the system's hardware a while back. You can look it up on the net. The Cell CPU will outperform the CPU in the 360.

I'm going for the Xbox 360 -- most of the information I've heard about the PS3 is that it is better performance-wise, but they are talking about putting so much "extras" into it that, quite frankly, I probably wouldn't use. I'm also a huge Halo fan and I'm definitely excited about the cross-platform Final Fantasy game coming. The higher price tag has also turned me off to the PS3, despite the "better" performance.
The inclusion of Xbox Live in the premium package appeals to me -- I live on a campus that supports alternate systems on the network, such as the Xbox, so it's definitely something I'd use.
Anyway, I guess we'll find out soon how good the 360 really is and how high Sony has to jump to get over the bar.

absolutely going to be picking up a 360. Even though I have a gamecube - Nintendo loyalty dies hard - Xbox has certainly become my gaming mainstay over the past couple of years. Of late, Microsoft has managed to carry a lot more exclusive titles that I am very interested in than Sony, such as Halo and KOTOR. The biggies tend to end up on both systems anyway, even if GTA:SA came out on PS2 well in advance.
I'm definitely looking forward to the ability of the Revolution to play all of the old NES, SNES, and N64 games through download. Old school Mario action. Righteous.

I'm holding off for now, one I'm getting a new comp and two there is nothing I'm dying to play on it.
Also has anyone heard about condemned coming to the pc? I heard a rumor a few months back about it.

Yeah...that is my ipod plugged into it...and it does play I can't wait for people to start yelling
about that!
The Dashboard playing music
The "Carbon" theme looks much cooler than the sterile white.
The tray magically holding the disc. With the wireless controller you can actually turn it on without touching the machine.
The Perfect Dark Intro...(totally awesome)
And the title screen. The game looks very shiny, and although the gameplay is mediocre it's still fun. I can't wait for Halo 3

"Minutes after Microsoft's next-generation game console went on sale Friday afternoon at CircuitCity.com, the site was hobbled by a deluge of traffic.
A representative for the online counterpart to electronics retailer Circuit City said the company's site saw a "tremendous" traffic spike at 2 p.m. ET, when the company began taking Internet orders for the eagerly awaited Xbox. (Specific traffic numbers were not immediately available from Comscore, which tracks Web use.) Microsoft has predicted it will sell 3 million consoles within the first three months following the Xbox 360's release.
Other retailers had taken preorders for the Xbox, but Circuit City was the only online store selling the consoles Friday. "
