Windows don't maximize properly

I just upgraded to WB 5 but I was having this problem with WB 4 as well. I have my taskbar at the top of my desktop, not at the usual spot on the bottom. Whenever I try to maximize any windows, they go right to the top of the screen; they don't maximize to the bottom edge of the taskbar. This happens no matter what theme/skin I am using in WB. Right now if I press maximize, the window will maximize to the top of the screen and cover the taskbar; on a previous reboot, when I pressed maximize, the window would maximize to the top of the screen, but underneath the taskbar so that I couldn't even see the titlebar of the window. This has nothing to do with my taskbar (set to be Always on Top as it has been for years).
I probably should also add that sometimes I will have an issue lasting for a few days where if I maximize a window, it goes so far off the screen that the titlebar and the menus of the window are up even above where the taskbar would be (e.g. I can't see them at all!)

I get that every once in a blue moon. seems unchecking 'on top' applying, then rechecking 'on top' applying clears it up.

I've rebooted many times, still the same problem. I was also having this problem with WB 4.6 so it's not the upgrade that's the issue.

Running wb5 on 2 seperate systems and when I open a window for the first time it opens out of the screen area by about 3 pixels at the top. Minimize and remaximize fixes it but it just happens again when I open a new window. It happens everytime, no matter what skin I use. I did see someone else reporting the same problem.
Anyone? Are these problems connected in any way. V 4.95b.012. It has happened ever since the first 4.9 beta release.
XP home on both systems. Troubleshoot reports are normal from what I have seen.

This has been happening since maybe 4.5? Right-clicking on the window's taskbar button, choosing to minimize and then right-clicking again and choose Restore will fix the window so it maximizes properly to the edge of the taskbar. However, if I close the window, the problem will happen again. This occurs with all windows for all applications.

I've been experiencing this too, Windows XP Pro & Home (two different systems), WB5 eval.
On both systems I'm using the A White Christmas theme. On both systems I have the taskbar on the *left*, about an inch wide and locked in place. When I hit maximize the windows *usually* move to a position that puts them approximately the taskbar's width to the left of where they should be and a small bit higher up than they should be. Perhaps this information might help?

Take a look at https://forums.stardock.com/?ForumID=167&AID=94472 post #5. It seems that themes created for WB4 are missing a field that was added with WB5. Do I hear a release of 5.1 coming soon?

I get the same problem with the Retro skin that WB5 registered comes with and applies by default on install. My taskbar's on the left, and the "Taskbar not on top - Apply - Taskbar on Top - Ok" doesn't fix the issue. I want my taskbar visible at all times, so having the taskbar auto-hide is not an option for me, though this does resolve the issue.
If I put my taskbar on the right side, maximize works correctly. If I put my taskbar on top, WB seems to think that my taskbar is at the bottom and maximizes accordingly, so my taskbar covers up the title of the maximized window and there's a gap at the bottom of the desktop. If I put my taskbar on the bottom, maximize again works correctly.
My conclusion: WB is assuming that a horizontally-oriented taskbar (Start button on left of screen, system tray on right side, whether taskbar is on top or bottom) is on the bottom, and sizes maximized screens accordingly. WB assumes that a vertically-oriented taskbar (Start at top of screen, system tray at bottom, whether taskbar is on left or right) is on the right, and sizes maximized screens accordingly.
Should be a quick fix, and hopefully Stardock tests these alternate taskbar locations before future releases.
