Widgets, Objects on desktop move slowly

Im wondering if anybody here can help me out with this issue... At one point everything worked properly and the animations(objects, widjects) ran smoothly. I accidently refreshed my monitor settings and when I went back to my desktop the animations were moving in slow motion, which kinda sucks...Im sure something screwed up in the monitor settings but not sure what they are to be set at to bring it back to normal...Thanx, and hope somebody can help me with this...

Thanx for the advice, but still have the problem...I have 2gig ram, so I dont think it's a memory prob...

What kind of graphics card are you using? I had the same problem until I got a good graphics card.

Gforce 5500FX It was working fine till I reset the monotor settings by accident

The troubleshoot tab has a slider called "Hardware Acceleration" if your system has it it should be slid all the way to Full. Since your having problems you may want to uncheck Write Combining.
Alternately try pressing alt-ctrl-del (at the same time ONLY once) and Task Manager will start. Under the processes tab you'll see a list of what programs are using what memory. In the column labeled CPU it show what is using what percentage of the processor at the time. System Idle Process should be listed at 95% or above most of the time unless your running some other programs at the same time. I would look to see what ELSE is using a lot of CPU and let us know.
A lot of time a sudden slow down like your experiencing is caused by malware/spyware/adware. If you don't already, I would suggest running a couple Programs like Spybot and Adaware.

Make sure your "refresh" speed is between 60 and 70, if you are using an LCD. If these other suggestions (above) don't resolve your issue, try setting your performance and quality settings back to default by clicking the "restore" button in said panel. If you do not know how to get to that panel:
right-click desktop
click "properties"
click "settings" tab
click "advanced" button
click "geforce 5500" tab
highlight "performance & quality settings"
under "active profile" is a "restore" button, click it.
Make sure you have your AGP speed setting to "x8":
highlight "AGP settings"
move the slider to "x8" just under "AGP rate".
Oh, and make sure under "Additional 3D settings" that the "max frames to render ahead" is not higher than 3.
This should set you back to workable settings.

I checked the Gforce setting tab, wasn't able to locate the restore option. For all the other options u mentioned after the restore, I was not able to locate them...

System Idle Process is between 82-90%, desktop X is using between 8-12%, everything else is usally zero...

If you have not already done so, you might try "Save theme > unload DX objects and widgets > clear the DX cache by deleting the DesktopX cache folder. Note - you may have to reselect any "run at startup" options once you reload the saved theme, after clearing the cache.

I have a IBM T860 LCD monitor, bought last year...Im up to date with all the drivers, monitor and video card... I also tried clearing the cache, which did not work...

Almost forgot (I have a laptop and frequency is set) you can try changing the frequency on the modes page. 75hz and above is or was considered "paper white" years ago but technology has really improved since then so it's not unusual to see adapter running over 85hz.
All the items effect the amount of display memory used and "may" be the problem.
