how do i change my user images ?

Hi , i have just tryed to change the original images i uploaded for my personal [email protected] and i cant get rid of my originals.
I tryed uploading my new images and they didnt change, so i unticked icon and personal pic then updated and then tryed uploading my new images and the old ones reappeared , any ideas ? is it just a glitch relating to the rescent server problems ? Thanks
