It was a zip file.
Anyways when I open the zip file, I have to unzip it somewhere on my comp.

yepper it's a zip. there's more than just the desktopx inside, there's also a right click menu...should just be able to unzip where it is, then double click the .dxtheme inside to install that..it will go where it needs to...don't know about the right click menu format, haven't used that yet

double click the .desktop file, it should auto load and install in the correct place. it belongs in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\DesktopX\Themes

You need the right program to download most of the goodies on this site. You just can't download and try to install anything!

If you look in each gallery, at the top in the description you will find a link to the program needed. or you can just click the software tab at the top, next to the forum tab.
