Missing comments in threads

where did they go?

Saturday, October 22, 2005 by Koasati | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues

This has been going on for quite a while. It's difficult to help people, when you don't know what's being said....

I agree K.

It would be nice for this issue to be cleared up.

Could the missing comments be posts made on the other side-- the Blog users' posts?

some of the missing ones are coming from the Stardock forums. some come from joe user..i noticed there, that if i didn't sign in prior to posting a comment it doesn't show here.

I notice this quite a bit, and agree it is irritating. My uneducated random guess is similar to Aimzzz's suggestion. I've seen these forums mirrored in many places. The Stardock forums, through the WC browser, themexp, if I remember right, and joe user...who knows? My guess is one of those spots isn't sharing with the rest of them.

Doesn't matter where the missing comments are coming from......... if the thread is going to appear here in the WC forums, then ALL the comments need to be visible here. If we have to go hunting on different sites to see the comments, what's the point in having the thread here in the first place?

I back this one up. I was not able to help in several instances for exactly the same reason. The initial post is always visible, but when the same author actually makes a comment in his thread (e.g. to answer a question), this comment and any following comment from the same author are no longer visible.

I noticed that this happens only for fairly newer members or visitors and has (so far) never happened if the poster was an 'oldie'. Maybe there is something wrong with the way new members are added? That may also be the reason why these missing posts seem to increase in frequency.

No one is suggesting otherwise. I can't speak for everybody, but I was trying to be helpful in trouble-shooting & I believe the others were too.

Yes, I could have stated more clearly that I, too, feel all comments should be viewable.

Sorry aimzzz, rabidrobot, Bichur.... I didn't mean that to sound so harsh..... I know you guys are trying to help. I'm just a little aggravated about this. I brought it up Sept 10, on the Moderator forum, and nothing has been done. Not even a "we're aware of this" from the site coders, so I thought I'd bring it up again here.

I really didn't mean any disrespect to you guys.

Absolutely.
One of my pet peeves. There for a while I thought Corky_O had gone over the edge and started talking to himself.

The missing comments problem is disturbing. It should be fixed asap.

I didn't register any

I agree if it's part of the count then it should count enough to show up.

I was thinking with all the posts concerning the "changes" coming from the subscription drive how nice it would be if WC got it's own personal forum not linked or mirrored to any other site that would only allow WC subscribed individuals to post. Let anyone view but only subscibers post. No missing posts, no conflict over "this is a skinning site"/"this is s blog" and something else to lure in new subscribers.

I don't think it's been addressed yet as I saw one earlier today that showed comments but none were visible to me.
