Nero to Release Burning Suite Version 7
Tuesday, October 11, 2005 by Island Dog | Discussion: Windows Software
"Nero will soon release a new version of its digital media software, Nero 7. The suite now includes 18 applications including Nero Home, a new Media Center-like program that allows users to navigate their digital media on a TV screen with a remote control. Version 7 also adds support for Blu-ray and HD-DVD."

Please forgive me, I've dipped a little into the wine this evening, but I am basically agreeing with your accessment of the "component" value of using separate specialized software for it's specific purpose.

The company has also added the capability for a custom install, meaning users can select which Nero 7 applications are loaded onto their machines. Other new features include Nero Scout, a new media database application; redesigned backup and burning applications; and support for 5.1 and 7.1 audio recording.
Sounds like you will be able to choose your own level of "bloat"
I still haven't found any other burning software that compares to Nero.
The new Roxio 7.5 actually has many many of the features of Nero, with a more user friendly interface (burning DVDs to or from an image takes about 3 mouse-clicks)
I also tried Ashampoo, and promptly dumped it.
Thanks for the update ID!

Thanks guys. It's nice to know people find what I post helpful.
And I do have do agree somewhat with what was said. I'm really getting tired of everything turning into a "media edition". However I also have to say I use Nero 6 a lot and it is a great piece of software.

Nero used to be my favourite CD/DVD-burner software. Who needs another Media-Center software like package? I have started to use Deep-burner for my burning needs; its small and reliable.
Sorry Island Dog, I always appreciate your 'new release' threads very much.
