New WB5 Beta build on OD
Wednesday, October 5, 2005 by Neil Banfield | Discussion: Stardock Support General
We have updated the build of WB on OD.
Please read the readme before installing and please use this thread for bug reports
Some of the changes :
Explorer hanging on skin change with some skins should now be fixed.
Which means changing skins should be a lot faster.
Right click overrides for per pixel skins work for rollup.
Rundll32 issue should be fixed.
Winzip extraction dialog issue should be fixed.
Min & max animation effects now respect the WB setting.
WBConfig troubleshooting page shows more info (that indicates if
you are missing files).
WBConfig troubleshooting page has a checkbox for compatibility
mode which might help those ATI Mobility 9000 users who have corrupt
titlebar buttons & text background area..
The corruption seen with KOL's Vista skin should be fixed now.
The taskbar semi trans corruption when you apply skins sometimes should be resolved.
The desktop fade now works correctly when the primary is to the right of the secondary.
Minor leak with per pixel frames resolved.
Issue with LogonStudio when applying logons should be corrected.

, I'm most grateful.Fortunately, I have no issues with the new display features, and it seems that WB5 is activated as I can apply the packaged and pre-existing blinds without issue. However, and it's only a small issue, but I still cannot apply new blinds from the newly installed tooltip, and they do not appear in the available list to select from there. To apply a new blind, I must go into its folder in C:\ Program Files\ Windowblinds and double click on the wbload file to load it in the library list, from where it can be applied as normal. It mightn't be as convenient as before, but it's a workaround I can live with and I'm not complaining...this version of WB absolutely rocks.
WindowBlinds 5 BETA Troubleshooting Report:
STATUS : WB+ SRV+ HLP+ UI+
WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC.
WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC
Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.
You have one monitor in total.
(Plug and Play Monitor) 1 is attached to RADEON 9550
'RADEON 9550 Secondary' also exists as device '\\.\DISPLAY2', but is not attached to the desktop.
'NetMeeting driver' also exists as device '\\.\DISPLAYV1', but is not attached to the desktop and is a mirror driver.
'RDPDD Chained DD' also exists as device '\\.\DISPLAYV2', but is not attached to the desktop and is a mirror driver.
I'm running XP Pro SP2; Pentium4 2.8; 1.5gig DDR400 RAM; Radeon 9550 with ATI Catalyst 5.8; Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro2 mobo.
Hope this helps

Neil:
Update: newly installed blinds now appear in the list when I open WindowBlinds. Now the controls are working in the preview panel as well and WB5 seems to be fully functional. I'm not sure what I did exactly to rectify this, so am unable to offer a definite fix. All I've done is run Adaware, Spybot and Ccleaner to remove junk files from C:\ and the registry.
I am so glad that I persisted and remained with my third attempt to install WB5! It really is something to behold, and so much faster as well.

After uninstalling, and rebooting, I downloaded, and installed, what I assume is the latest version. After another reboot, SDc once again says I have version 490.
Everything seems to be working just fine, but that version number 'bugs' me.

...and you're sure that you have the latest version of SDC? Mine (updated today) is Version 2.10.344.build: 95
Also, I seem to recall someone mentioning a small program that will completely uninstall whatever Stardock application you want, all files and folders...sorry I can't remember what it's called or where to get it. Maybe someone else here knows?
edit: just realized you said you installed WB...what version does Windowblinds tell you it is (without looking at SDC)?

The program you refer to, for removing 'most' Stardock apps is odnt_zapper.exe...... I have it.
Other than SDC, I don't know where to get a version number from WB5....... there's no tray icon, and in the past that was generally wrong anyway.

I'm going to forward this glitch on to the SDC developer and manager of development. I have seen this before, but thought that was due to the customer's version of WB5Beta not being activated. It shows here that yours is activated.

| Koasati: Have you tried performing the reinstallation routine on Stardock Central? (uninstall, reboot, download/install, reboot). |
No, haven't tried that yet...... I be leaving the house shortly, so I'll do it later today.
Thanx milksama.

Stardock Central keeps telling me about the update, but it doesn't show up so that I can update it. I have SDC Version 2.10.344 build 95
When I open the history, it shows the history for WindowBlinds 4.90c beta

Right click override now working on the per pixel skins...except for Adobe Bridge, which only scrolls up 3/4 of the way...all my other apps, so far, scroll all the way
