WindowBlinds 5 Beta: Next Tuesday

It's coming..

Monday, September 26, 2005 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

The first public beta of WindowBlinds 5 is almost here.  Stardock released the alpha this week to its internal QA team to put the program through its compatibility testing before sending it out.  WindowBlinds 5's most notable new feature is the ability to support "glass" and full alpha blending of the title bar and border (no more jaggy borders).  The critical step has been to deliver this functionality without affecting performance for reasonably modern video cards.

In addiion, WindowBlinds 5 no longer has a "wbload.exe" and instead extends the painting of the Windows GUI in a more "native" way.  Or put another way, it has "zero foot print" in the same manner that the default bundled Windows themes (msstyles) use.

Users who have Object Desktop will be able to try out the beta next Tuesday (Oct 4).  Users of WindowBlinds 4 will be able to upgrade to Object Desktop at a reduced price.  Moreover, users who purchased WindowBlinds 4 after September 1 will receive WindowBlinds 5 for free.

WindowBlinds 5 will also be designed to run on Windows Vista natively by the time Windows Vista ships (the beta of WindowBlinds 5 should run on the beta of Windows Vista though the Windows Vista GUI is still in a state of flux obviously).

lets see, thier an hour behind us and i have 7:30 so its 6:30 there they probably wont be at work till 8:00 so we have at least three hours till the boss comes in anoyingly late (on purpose because your waiting for him) and give the order to post the update. and atleast another half hour for that guy to finish flirting with the bosses secratary... another twenty minutes to read and reply to an urgent E-mail that just cant wait because its from the boss and says he's haveing car trouble and will be a little late this morning. then its off to the break room for a cup of coffee and a jelly doughnut. you get the idea right? its going to take for ever and thiers nothing we can do but sit here crying as we wait for our new and improved drug

You'll be waiting several more hours unfortunately...from #stardock, here's the topic of the channel..."Topic is 'WindowBlinds 5 Beta 1 on October 4. Afternoon. Ish. EST.' "

Oh well, at least you can get some work done now and stop refreshing your stardock central:)

Afternoon EST will probably be after midnight European time......so that will be 5 october here.
Stardock should consider that next time they make promises being an international community.

It's allways better to make an estimate that's on the good side of the promise than the whole community wil not be waiting and whining but BANG! ......its there allready.....
