Gadgets are not for Windows 98?

Saturday, September 24, 2005 by customwin98 | Discussion: DesktopX

I am wondering this because I went to desktopgagets to try out some cool stuff so I downloaded the mp3 player remote. The unzipped file did not work on my machine. So i thought it was compatability issue. But then I downloaed the rss feeder and it to did not work....
If heard correctly gadgets were suppose to also work on windows 98.Well i have clock gadget that i downloed a while ago form stardock that works fine.I am guess the issue is with the actual developer where windows 9x is jus to old and can't support gadgets

Check the read-me file in the ".zip".

Here is a quote from the support requirements at desktopgadgets.com:

"The authors of gadgets will provide direct support for the functionality of their software. DesktopGadgets.com will not provide support of the usage of gadgets. Authors should include a Readme file in the same .ZIP file that contains their gadget."

I am not sure what may be the issue, but DesktopX requires Windows 2000/XP to run, so it may be that the author has to design specific support into the gadget to run on Windows 9x/ME.

hm... I haven't seen anything in DX that is spesific to Win 9.x when you make gadgets... And I also thought DX was Win2000/XP only and so was the gadgets... Perhaps there is some missinformation around. You could try [email protected] it's the only official support channel.
