firefox archive, or not

Thursday, August 18, 2005 by Andy02369 | Discussion: PC Hardware

When firefox was just coming out, I decided to have an archive for each version that came, since it didn't require anything but to download any new versions. I still have a file back when 0.7 was out. Now here's the thing, I went back to the archive last week and it took forever to bring up the icons and I almost got impatient of waiting that I was going to turn off the computer without shutting down. Well, they didn't come up and I ended up shutting explorer down instead. My question is why does it take so long for them to come up? I haven't used them, nor have I moved them anywhere except my backup hd drive and my main hd drive. Anything that's before the current version takes forever for the icon to come up.

If I understand, your running an earlier version with a later version installed?
I don't know, but maybe it's causing an identity crisis.

I run the latest version. I have an archive of firefox and I'm wondering why the older versions of the installion are taking so long for my computer to read them, in other words if I go to the folder that has the file, it takes forever to read the older installion files of firefox.
