Article/Forum system update

Tuesday, July 26, 2005 by T-Man | Discussion: Developer Journals

In an effort to fix some of the database issues we have been experiencing we have just updated our systems in the way the forums and article posts are handled in the database.  Everything works the same way from your perspective but the way we are storing and fetching the data has been changed.  Because of the change it is possible there may be a few problems that occur.  So if you have any problems with article/forum posts please let us know here.

I don't know if you want to know about this here, but for 30 minutes this morning all I got when trying to get to the site was "Invalid Host Name"

Yes, we had a bit of downtime this morning

Just out of curiosity, are we supposed to see all comments that are posted both here and via SD forums reflected in the counts here at WC?

There is delay for when one systems data gets updated from the main server.  That delay is normally up to 15 minutes but do to all the shuffling around we have been doing lately the scripts that sync the data have either been disabled or in need of repair.  Hopefully the comment counts are working better and should continue to be more accurate as time goes on.

Thanks, T-Man.

For the record, I have seen very few issues using IE, and what I have seen has been fairly short lived.

Great work on a huge job to you and the crew.
