ActiveX Script to make it past a proxy server

Hi everyone,
I'd like to try my hand at a weather widget/gadget. I know I need to use an ActiveX script to handle proxy authentication, but I don't really know where to start. Is anyone able to point me in the right direction, or give me some hints or tips about how to do it?
