Explorer Folder Settings Bug?

Is it possible that the latest version of IconPackager causes a problem with Windows Explorer folder view settings (i.e., changing a folder to be viewed in a list, detailed view, icons, tiles, or thumbnails)? I have the folder settings cache size set to 4000 (instead of the default 400), which wasn't a problem before. Since installing Iconpackager, it seems as though any folder that wasn't customized before it was installed cannot be customized after. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No problem here with changing folder views after applying a package using the latest release of IP3.
Not sure what you mean by "folders settings cache size" - unless you are referring to the Temporary Internet files cache size (mine is set to 2442 MB) and no issues.
Have you tried the various options in the "Tools" menu of IconPackager to try solving the issue?
Perhaps using the "Restore All Icons > Yes, to verify > OK to complete", then repeat for "Rebuild Icon Cache" and "Repair Icon Images" - then test the default folders for functionality. If all is well, try applying an icon package and test folders again.
If this was not helpful, please leave some more details, and someone is bound to have an idea.

Thx for the input Corky_O. What I meant by the "folder settings cache size" is that Windows saves the view of each folder you visit (up to a certain number of folders). This number is known as the folder settings cache size (I think I got that terminology from a program called X-Setup). Tweak UI for XP calls it "Folder Customizations" but I thought that would be more confusing to put in this forum.
Anyway, if you change a folder to be viewed as Thumbnails, it should save it...or as icons....or as tiles...or as details, etc. Windows is supposed to retain the view you were using in that folder when you come back to it again. So I was just wondering if the known problems IP3 was causing could also be related to this problem I was having.

Understood.
Could be a simple conflict between other customization programs and IP3.
It sounds like you are computer literate, so instead of offering other possibles, I would point you to tech support Email - if for no other reason than to report a possible bug.

mjpoetic, is the problem simply that folder settings are not being saved?
Make sure the option for Remember each folders view settings is not selected within the Windows Explorer settings.
You could also try simply uninstalling IP to see if its that thats causing the problem.

Thx again Corky_O and thx Bagginz. Yes Bagginz, my folder settings aren't being saved. I don't what the cause was, but I just had a feeling it was one of the Stardock apps I installed that caused the conflict. Luckily, I was searching for the answer to my problem and found Kelly's Korner (Link). I carefully imported one of their registry files. I say carefully because editing the registry in general is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.
Corky_O, I have been dealing with computers since 1987 (when I was in 4th grade), but I don't have the knowledge the true nerds of this game!!

Just a follow up...that registry file I imported dealt with the Folder View customization limit and cleaned up some botched registry info. Now it's back to normal and I am able to save at least 8000 folder views.

When I say "latest version" I just mean IP 3.x in general.
