Attention Effect

Set duration

Is there a way to edit the duration of the Attention Effect? I use bouce and I'd like the icon to keep boucing until I click it.
I also wanna know if there's a way, in Autohide Mode, when the Attention Effect runs the Dock comes up?

Hi Vercetti:

Currently there is no way to modify the duration of the attention effect in ObjectDock. A first thought is that perhaps in the future the number of times the attention effect is played can be editable, but in general it will keep playing while the window is requesting the focus anyways. The speed is not configurable currently either, but would probably do for you what you're looking for. Its not top of the priority list, but I can see it happening.

I'd like to change its duration for the icon of my IM software (Trillian), because if you're not in front of your pc when someone anwsers you back, you end up not knowing if there's an anwser, unless you click the icon and take a look.

Noted. Ok, well, programmatically the behavior is correct. When one calls to actually make a window flash, they specify a maximum duration. So, eventually the window does in fact usually stop "flashing". I'll see if theres anything I can do to detect a window that was flashing but hasn't been activated, I've noted it in the todo log.

That's easy..... Open Trillian Preferences > Windows > Check "Flash windows when new text arrives" Uncheck "Stop flashing windows after 10 flashes"

I have mine set this way, and the attention effect will continue until you respond....

But I'm using Trillian Pro 3, and I dont have that option, only "Flash the window XX times when a new message or request arrives" so I put a big number abd I think it works!
But I still have one more question about the Attention Effect. Is there a way to integrate it with the Auto-Hide? So when you're in Auto-Hide mode and, for example, a new message arrives to you in your IM software, the Dock comes up with the Attention Effect, because I think the only way to know if there's a window flashing is to set the Attention Effect to bounce, so you can see the top of the icon on the bottom of your screen.

I'd love to see this feature! I often miss messages from friends on msn, as I wasn't in front of the computer when it started and finished flashing. I've noticed the explorer taskbar stops flashing also, but keeps the task button highlighted until it is activated. I'm not sure what the equivalent of this would be for Objectdock - kind of like a "lapsed Attention" effect.

thats exactly what i want too, but be great if the dock comes up if it's set to authide
