Silica widgets losing settings

Saturday, July 9, 2005 by BlueDev | Discussion: Bug Reports

The Silica series of widgets seem to be losing many of their settings lately. The Silica calendar restarts in the correct position, but resets to the default blue color, and the Silica weather widget (the Stardock release, not the c242 release) reverts to Livonia, MI no matter how many times I change it. The To Do list is working fine and the picture frame as well. But those other two I have to reset every time. Any help here?

I've not seen this. But I'll ask about it.

I have the same problem with Silica Weather. Getting tired of Livonia, although I am sure it is a lovely place.

Yes, I have the same problem with the Stardock weather. Also, when I boot up and have the widgets load automatically but do not load desktopx, the weather widget only shows the city name and the temp when I last logged off. This happens with both the Stardock and the c242 widgets.

Strange... I have the widgets running here 24/7 without any problems.

Hmmm, just a try : Are any of the people having problems normal users on the machine in question and not admin ?

Any idea where they are supposed to save state to? (registry presumably)

Does this not happen to other weather objects or widgets as well?
Earlier I was also using desktopx weather widgets by means of slightly modding the original objects and exporting them to widgets. When I started these widgets, they first came up with the city, and even with the temperature that was valid by the time saving the widget, and they remained so if there were network problems (got updated once the network or internet connection or valid firewall settings came back).
Which was cool, as in the middle of a hot summer day they have shown -2 centigrades and light snow.
