Quicken Inop since update to IP 3.0a

Help!! My Quicken will not load since I updated to IP 3.0a
I have OD and all its toys...And everything was well until IP 3.0a

Luis and Fudoshi, Stardock is aware that this version(3.00a.091)and the last version(3.00.090)are causing major problems on some computers. The bad thing is the newest version(3.00a.091)is even worse than the last,and this was supposed to be the fix.It virtually paralyzes my computer until I uninstall IP.I know what your going thru not being able to open programs.Neither one of these versions should have been release versions.

Try going into Iconpackager and disabling the option to Repair Shell Icons on the Tools pulldown menu. I started noticing certain programs that wouldn't launch on my machine anymore since installing Iconpackager 3.0 (such as NTBACKUP, Quicken 2005, and Snagit). Doing this seemed to fix the problems I was having. Granted, it's a workaround until Stardock fixes things, but now I can at least pay my bills.

There will be a new ip3 update going out this week to address the problems some people have been having with the shell icon repair feature (iprepair.dll).

Although this software bug caused me major grief (and endless hours frothing at the fingers on the Quicken message boards), I have to commend Stardock's accessibility and quick response. It's when you have a problem that you learn the true character of a company. (Are you reading this, Intuit?)
On the plus side, when Quicken wouldn't work it got me to download and try MS Money. Not going back. Competition -- it's a beautiful thing!

While I have no particular fondness for Intuit's tech support (that phrase is pretty much an oxymoron), this problem was caused by Stardock and was not limited to Quicken. On my system it caused many applications to stop functioning correctly (4NT, TakeCommand, VS .Net IDE, several Thinkpad utilities...) and it was only by lots of digging that I eventually stumbled upon a posting on the WindowsFX forum that led to the solution I implemented, which was to unregister the dll. I don't think I will download the next version of IP until I see some evidence here that the new version of the dll will not cause a similar problem. I know, much of OD is in a perpetual state of beta and use at your own risk but I never even run IP. It irks me that simply downloading a piece of OD that I don't use caused significant problems with applications that I use on a daily basis. Especially something like IP which is supposed to be used to "enables Windows users to change all of their Windows icons at once by applying "packages" of icons." It really makes me wonder what other little oddities I've worked around on my system may be caused by some other unused OD component dll ...

I don't know why I passed this thread by when I started having trouble on my PC. I guess I didn't realize it was indeed connected to my problems. I had Money05, Ulead and a couple other programs that wouldn't work right.
I just updated to the newer version 3.00b.093 and things are back to normal. Everything works fine. I just wish I was paying attention and read this thread. I even posted a new thread that can now be ignored. Oh well glad its back to normal.
Perhaps though when something like this occurs an email should be sent out to all subscribers of OD and IP that this problem may exist. If there was a notice put on the front page, I apologize. I usually pay pretty good attention, I must be slipping.
