Bootskin problem !

Showing boots in negative on some !

Sunday, July 3, 2005 by PhilK1 | Discussion: Stardock Support General

Its just a few of them, of course - most notably the ones I actually want to use ! The Homer Simson one where he's eating the XP boot screen, and the "Soviet XP" one with the hammer and sickle. I am currently usinmg the John Wayne one, without a problem. Why are some of them refusing to show properly ? Is there a way to fix it easy ? I can remember a couple of years ago having the Homer eating XP one working fine. Now he looks like a black and white minstrel having a quick snack !

It is most likely the progress bar, either it is not 4 bit bitmap, or not using colors from the 16 color palette of the screen image.

Just downloaded and tested Homer XP, it is the progress bar colors, simple fix delete prog. bar from folder. Longer fix, open screen image in MS Paint, get the R,G,B values for a few colors to use. Open prog. bar in MS Paint, use those colors to repaint, all of the 22x9 must have colors used in screen image. I would think the others are the same problem.

C:\Program Files\Stardock\WinCustomize\BootSkin\skins, this is path to skins folders for bootskin. Open Homer XP right click on prog. bar, delete.
