flashing hard disk LED
LED ICONS!

Hello, does anyone know if I can create an icon orbject that will imitate a hard drive activity LED? My activity LED on the computer is hidden and I would like to have some activity measure on my screen. I see a lot of hard drive meters but that is not what I need. Thank you!

Or you could put a mike near your HD and hook it up to the computer and watch the equalizer.

I had my little brother, Mike, get under the desk and tap my toe every time he saw activity; worked pretty well.

I just came across a cool free program that shows green and red lights (read and write, respectively) for each drive on your system. It's not a widget, but it looks like one, and even has transparency. Link
They have a newer version that's not free, and does a whole lot more, such as monitoring the health of your drive with SMART technology, etc. Link

If you use ObjectDock with SysStats you have Judge's Active Disk as another option: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=4273&LibID=29&comments=1
And, I used Judge's method (with permission) in this package: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=7522&LibID=29&comments=1
two of which are hard drive status monitors with disk activity indicators.
I haven't tried the DX widget yet, but the OD docklets aren't as responsive as the light on your tower; they average activity once (judge's) or twice (mine) a second and flash according to that.
