Litestep Auto-Arrange

Sunday, June 19, 2005 by Erik Olson | Discussion: OS Customization

I am new to Litestep, and am having some difficulties disabling the Auto-Arrange feature. Normaly in regular Windows you can disable this by right-clicking on the desktop, however in Litestep the right-click feature is overridden. I am at a loss. Does anyone know how to disable Auto-arrange>

Sounds like you are running Explorer with Litestep....2 shells at once is rarely a good idea....

What do you mean by running two shells? I just installed Litestep, and after I rebooted my computer I couldn't move any icons... If I am running two shells, how would I disable Explorer?

you'll need to replace your desktop icons module to do that, or get a theme that uses xdesktop.dll (newest desktop icons module, let's you drag icons around) instead of icondesk.dll (the one included in the default theme).
to do that you'll need to open theme.rc in the theme's folder (i guess your using austerity) and change *netloadmodule icondesk-0.66 for *netloadmodule xdesktop-1.7
for more information read the ots2 theme creation guide http://o-t-s.sourceforge.net/theme_creation.html#loadingmodules and if you have any problem come to irc.freenode.info #litestep
