Windows Media Player 10 to system tray?

Is it possible?

I was just wondering if it was possible to send Windows Media Player (I have version 10) to the system tray so that it isn't taking up real estate on my taskbar. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rick click your taskbar and select "Windows Media Player". That should do it.

No, that just gives you controls on your taskbar, taking up just as much space (if not more) than a taskbar button. I think he's wanting to minimize to the system tray, where it only takes up the space of an icon (not even that if it's hidden).

Problem with that is it's an all or nothing approach.

Thanks for trying, but ya'll basically gave me my answer, which is "no way". If it ain't an option in WMP, then I'm all out of ideas.

The lavishly-titled 'Windows Media Bonus Pack for Windows XP' has a powertoy that you're probably looking for. It's basically a tray control for WMP that, when clicked, will play/pause whatever's playing, and can be used to hide WMP.

Heh. It really is a cool program. I do have double-clicking on the titlebar mapped to send windows to the systray, but that doesn't work with skinned windows, and they don't always restore. This seems like a much better solution so far. And now I can use the double-click for something else.

I actually prefer to use DesktopX media player widgets that control WMP. Those i can put into the system tray.
