Bootskin is too dark almost black

I have made my own bootskin and even run the images through the bootskin tool in skin studio but no matter what it seems to be really dark when I come to use it. When I preview it in bootskin it looks fine. Please can any one help. This is really frustrating me as I am trying to get a suite together and this is a stumbling block stalling the release of the other elements.

If you are using a progress bar, it must be from same 16 colors as screen image and a 4 bit bitmap, same as screen image must be.

Yep...both images MUST have the same palette.

No exceptions....

The easiest way is to set your background image to 16 colours, then select a 22x9 area, copy that, then paste as a new image. That way the palette will be same
