Mail checkers, HELP!!!

I have to admit this. I don't know how to use ANY DX email checker! 
I have no idea what to type in under server (or whatever it says)
I know that for username you just type in wateva with the @whereever.com part and that passwoird goes in password (duh!) but i don't know what to type into server.
I want to get my hotmail and linkin park underground accounts to work. How do i figure out what to type in???

How did you set up your regular email then? It's the same thing.
If you're using Hotmail, it won't work for those. Email checkers work with standard POP servers, not Internet email systems.
