Where To begin With Skin Design?

Tuesday, May 31, 2005 by cyber villan | Discussion: Stardock Support General

Ok, I've never made skins before, but I think I'll give it a try. I'd like to make some Windows Media Player skins or maybe even WindowBlinds. Do I use a program like DirectSkin or Windows Media SDK, or both? I'd really appreciate some help on getting started on this. I mean I'm having a little trouble seeing what steps one two and three are. Thanks.

Get yourself skinstudio. http://www.skinstudio.net/

Open a skin you like and explore it in skinstudio to see how a skin is put together.

Read the documantation that comes with skinstudio and check out this tutorial. It is a little outdated but will
get you started. http://www.aleksyandr.com/tutorial.htm
