DesktopX 3 is geeting to be one of the most annoying programs I use.
Aaargh! Why do builder and client have to be this way!

I've just started to use DX 3 alot now and am noticing how annoying switctching inbetween Builder and Client are. First, I have to bring up DX3's Welcome to switch to builder from client just to save the theme with an object removed. I should be able to save in Client. Next, all of the Load options should be on the systray icon's menu like it used to be in 2.x. Oh, and did I metion that I need to unload all of DX just to get into Client from Builder? There should be a switching option on the systray context menu also.
I hope Stardock thinks about these and the ease of use of their program.
Oh, and I found a bug: Sometimes in the object's properties box where the image is upposed to be theere is just a down arrow in a box. I noticed this on the banners on SDC once also.

DesktopX saves my desktop just fine. But it doesn't save widget layouts. Maybe it should do that too.

Right now, you can right-click on a widget and set it to come back on auto-start. The feature being discussed is a way for th ewidget manager to make all the widgets automatically re-start. It has nothing to do with widgets or anything but rather what should be auto-loaded.

My widgets have always remembered their position...the only time I have a problem is if I close a widget and I'm on a different resolusion...I've had widgets " lost " because they went below taskbar. But thanks to buzzh58 for figuring out a solution to this lost widget problem ...I no longer have to delete them.
The easiest solution is to push widgets to the approximate center of your usual resolusion before you close them...then you won't need to find the X and Y distance and change the numbers.

Not sure i'd call it a bug..but I agree there should be an easier fix for this. But I dont think it affects many..basically people that jump from 800x600 to 1280x1024 then back again...Most people don't jump back and forth...not sure many even use 800x600 these days. I'm just glad I know how to fix it now. I can recall similar problems a few years ago when I didn't even have Windowblinds. Just changing the Themes that came with Windows sometimes caused an icon or 2 to go beyond the viewable side of the screen.

Thanks Stardock for the new DX update!!! It's awesome, just what I needed.....

Heh, I usually load DX in builder mode. Dl'd Tronnix, set all the shortcuts up, switched to client mode and had to reset all the shortcuts again, except this time the 'set target' option isn't available on the irc object.

I don't have DX3, but honeslty I can see why you have to switch of the client in order to go to the builder mode.
The client is what it is; the client. It probably runs differently and in such a fashion that a person who would only load widgets and themes would not need certain and specific DX function on their computer.

Personally, I don't see that as a bug if you have to turn off the client in order to open up the builder. If your always going to be building, set that as the default.
Ad for widget positions, i can' say. I thought I had a problem with widget positions, but then I realized I had DX running and the widgets were not actually widgets BUT objects. If I save the set up as a THEME then it comes back the way it originally was.

Hmmm I just tried the systray 'switch to builder mode'. DX client quit, but builder never showed up at all. There are no crash logs or anything else of that nature. Verrrry interesting.
So I loaded builder, fixed all the references and shortcuts and tried the systray 'switch to client mode' and the same nothing happened.

~I too have had desktopX for a long time and I'm just starting to use it. Im lucky enpugh to have someone that coaches me on what to do and where to start. The program is great, just a bit complicated for people like me that need easier directions. But, once you learn the basics..your in business.
