Duplicate Icon Problem

I have two of every icon on my desktop, and I cannot delete or click on the extra icons. I have tried
restarting my computer and they are still there. There are two seperate Iconpackages for the two sets of icons that are showing. How can I get rid of the extras?

Open c:\documents and settings\all users\desktop folder
In a separate window, open c:\documents and settings\"username"\desktop folder
Compare them. If something is listed in both places, you will have 2 icons on your desktop. Delete one of them. Most likely occurs when someone moves an icon with the right mouse button and chooses copy here.
