Longhorn Skinning

Tuesday, May 17, 2005 by donParsec | Discussion: New Releases

I was just looking at Stefanka's latest screenshot (it is a longhorn VS)Link

I am curious on how Longhorn themes work. Did microsoft remove the protection of uxtheme (if longhorn has it) or what?

PS. By the way, where can I find the icons he used in the screenshot?

I don't think your link points to a genuine Longhorn visual style. Though it looks pretty good it's only inspired from the visual styles that we could see in the Longhorn Alpha builds that have leaked so far.

I thought the same thing till I saw the comment by Stefanka in the second page. He said it worked for build 4074.

From what I have heard, Longhorn skinning will be a lot less flexible than it is under xp. There's no skin format, just bitmap replacements. Unless you have something like WindowBlinds.
