Problems with Maximized Windows

I'm using windowblinds...(I don't know if that is the problem). I have my task bar at the top of the screen. When I change windowblind themes, some windows maximize behind the taskbar, so that I cannot see the top part of the window (where the minimize, maximize, close buttons are). When I Hide the Task bar, the window just re-adjusts so that the top of it is hidden off screen. I tried to minimize it half way, and then moving the window lower to the screen, but when I maximize it still does the same thing. Has this happened to anybody else...and is there a solution to this? Sometimes, it works okay...I just minimize the screen and then maximize it again. The window that has the most problem is ThunderBird. I hope someone can help.

This is a problem with Windows itself and the assumptions many apps make about where the taskbar is (many assuming the default bottom taskbar and not making allowances for any other configuration). The same thing will happen if you switch to Windows Classic.
I see the same thing whenever I change skins while using a top taskbar (or left or right taskbar, for that matter) - some of the apps, when repainted, duck under the taskbar. If the app is maximized at the time of the skin change and the control buttons end up covered, I just hit alt+spacebar to get to the window context menu, restore it & then maximize it again & it positions properly (I believe you should also have the taskbar itself set to *always on top*). If the app was open in a non-maximized window, it usually stays put but some reposition to the top left corner to the 0,0 screen pixel - alt+spacebar/move and moving the window with the arrow keys will get you to the control buttons.
I don't know whether WB could be modified to *make note of & remember* the position of window borders before repainting with the new skin, but that would be a good workaround if it could be done. I doubt MS will modify the OS to fix this or that currently available apps which display this behavior will be fixed, either, so if it is possible to fix, WB would be the way to fix it, at least until Longhorn arrives.

I didn't think about moving the screen with the arrow buttons. I kept trying with the mouse, but never worked, even tho the cursor turned into the move icon. Thanks Again!

I only have this problem on one of my computers. The laptop I'm using now has this problem with window blinds, but my desktop does not. When I unload windowblinds the apps maximize like they should (docking underneath the taskbar), when I load a skin, problem occurs again. It is very irritating.

Maybe there's more to this than I thought, perhaps a driver issue as well. But I seem to recall a post or two from Neil B. on this subject which suggested the problem was related to OS & app-assumption faults. Maybe you need the "perfect storm" to see it.
