Help!! Problems with LogonStudio and Bootskin

Ok, its probably something terribly obvious but that's my speciality!!
I can use both LogonStudio and Bootskin to load the things that they came with when I downloaded them but I can't get them to load logons or bootscreens that I have downloaded myself. When I browse to the folder to get the files there's nothing in then to load. Hopefully that makes sense to somone and they can help me out, I've already uninstalled both programs and reinstalled them but it doesn't help at all and that's me out of ideas!!!!
