What app should I use?

Hmm....

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 by Weaksid | Discussion: OS Customization

I'm trying to figure out what app will help me more to organize all my shortcuts. Example would be like the link I provided. If you look to the right on my screenshot, you can see how I had my shortcuts organized. I want a app to do the same thing. I've found if something happens the wrong way, I lose my organization of how I have the shortcuts setup. Can anybody give me some suggestions?

Well, now that I've used Right Click, I couldn't do without it. I don't know if you like having all that on your desk or not. It all can be organized into a Rightclick menu and it's as fast or faster than going over to the side of the desk to click on what you want. As long as you don't put too much on the main menu, it's fairly compact with everything in subfolders, just try not to bury stuff more than one folder deep. Here's an example of mine http://boss019.wincustomize.com/viewskin.aspx?skinid=9114&libid=13&comments=1&SID=5484&UID=1455657 Not sophisticated at all, I've see lots better, but I can get to everything I need in a second or two. Just my thought on it. Depends on what you want and what your tastes are for having it on the desk or just quick to get to.

'Right Click' is something we Litestep users have benefitted from for years....a desktop popup menu at the end of your mouse pointer.....one reason LS is popular still....

So, for me to do something like that, I'll need Litestep? I'm just making sure.

No, I'm running it on 'normal' WinXP. It's becoming a real 'must-have' for me.

Hmm, my right click already has too much. It goes half my screen, even on 1680x1050 resolution. Any other option that looks cool that doesn't use the right click? Objectbar or another program I should look at?

Based off your screenshot, I think Object Dock plus would be the way to go. You could easily organize a tabbed dock to do everything you had in that screenie. I can't live without it anymore.

That;s a good idea BlueDev. And Weaksid, RightClick replaces what you see when you right-click on your desktop. It's totally configurable to how you want to set it up. Check it here Link
It's a free trial.

Hmm, I might just get ObjectDock as soon as I can make some more money. It will also give me a good purpose to use ObjectDock now
