cant find the software anymore

hi guys,

first up, im new here, and love the site and its content...

anyways, to the reason i came, i used to be pretty heavy on the modding of software, and when i first started, this is what i first had:

anyways, if you take a close look, in the bottom right, in its system tray, there is an icon, it looks kind of like a MAC Lcd... its the software that does the glow under the menus.. the problem is i cant remember what it is called, i do remember that i think i got it with a dock mod...

if anyone has any idea what this is, could they please let me know? im sorry that i cant give any more information then that, but this was around 8 months ago.. if you have any ideas, please let me know

im after this particular little app, as it ran on barely any resources, and its what was managing the transparency, and the drop glow, along with a few other little effects from memory.. i know that the new (dare i say it) style XP does transparency, but quite honestly, its a load of >>insert bad thoughts here<<

i now run my themes without any themeing software, however, lack a way to get this effect... so if you can, or are willing please help with ideas/suggestions or if i get really lucky hopefully some linkage to this little app

Pretty sure WindowsFX will do all that. Hit the Software tab at the top of the page.

No clue what the icon is.

sweet. thanks for the alternative... is it hefty on resources?

so far, i have worked out that i save 10Mb RAM and a whole 1% of my CPU by not running themeing software to keep my theme running, windows handles it.. but i dont want to have 50 million little things running in the background thats all...

its not that i dont have the power to spare.. but i dont want there to be a massive overhead for while im gaming...

You don't save anything, you just use a different theming engine. Fact is that Windowblinds' theming software uses less resources than Windows' "native" theming engine. Just disable the Windows one in your services and bingo! You will save a few megs there, if that's what you're after. WindowsFX relies on your videocard (and processor when using the transition effects) not so much on RAM.

ahh, thought so, oh well, i checked it out, all you get is fade effects unless you pay..

but i am currently very tempted.. as the software didnt seem to put a spanner in the works.. or at least not until i started to move windows around... but even then it performed well for the system it was one (not my main one) i will definately be back if i feel the need for all the extra features... thanks guys, you have been an awesome help, but if someone can identify that program... il be sooo happy
