Sys Tray

Missing Icons

Wednesday, April 6, 2005 by Vlrych | Discussion: Bug Reports

Hi,

just got a question to all of you. Have youe ever seen that your Icons in the systray disapeared when losading some widgets and objects ?
I am fighting with this for a while now. Got some systray icons i.e. AV, Printer, InCd and all sorts of stuff. When desktopx ( 3.00.04 ) is loaded some of them disapear and will only come back with a re-logon ( not restart ) to WIN-XP SP2. This is a pain, really. Unloading desktox and everything is fine again. Any thoughts ? Thanks

Just to add to your complaint re: Desktop 3 .... I am experiencing the exact same thing. On startup, most/all of my SystemTray icons are not displayed. But if I logoff and then logon again, everything is fine. I also see that this has gone unanswered for 3 weeks now. Hopefully someone will address the problem soon.

This happens to me when I load a new WindowBlind occasionally. I have posted the issue in the WB forum as well searching for an answer.

Well I wish I could add to the solution, but I can only add more symptoms (at least in my case). I have all these same problems, but also, everytime I boot, the dialog for Desktop Builder comes up. I do NOT have the box checked in preferences to Start with Windows. I have even removed ALL of the widgets that I was playing with, so there should be nothing loading. Please help!

I had the same problem for the Desktop Builder starting up but I found that if you dont have it in builder mode or DX not loaded it will not come up on the restart. Only problem that i have found with loading normal DX instead of Builder is that sometimes you objects will lose their settings, like my email checker always lose config and I have to load builder back and enter them in agin. ahhh well, so many bugs, sometimes make me wonder why we even use them.

Hi,

Sorry, I know I'm bumping this topic, but I have recently (only in the last month) purchased Object Desktop, and have a similar problem with the system tray object.

If the object is set at a fixed width, all the icons will show, unless the object width is less than the number of icons to display (should an arrow icon appear indicating more icons are hidden?)

If the object is set for a dynamic width, I have found it always ends just before the last icon - ie all but 1 icon is displayed.

And finally, I too have noticed that tray icons sometimes disappear when you load or are working on new objects, only to re-appear if you restart DesktopX.

Thanks.

I just renewed my subscription and loaded the latest desktop x and now all my systray icons are gone. What the &^%$ is that all about? Uninstalled then rebooted then reinstalled still no icons?

sorry it's so late a responce.i hope you've figured it out already. It's not dx3,It's that the widjet's and object's your loading are not complete.they were made by people who didn't assign names to their object's or widjet's.Because your expected to give them names so they won't conflict with your stuff. unfortunately you've got corupted objects now. So delete them redownload new one's and name them as you load them useing desktop navigator or right click them with dx builder running then name them and your system tray's should be fine.ps you have to save them after you make a change or it will be lost( meaning no name).you also have to unload DX or it will reload on restart.if you check it to load on restart you can unload it and it will load on restart.when you learn more about this program you'll learn why it has all these things the way they are and come to appreciate it. It can be a little rough to learn but it's great to know.
