ZoneAlarm stopping me viewing images.
when looking through 'windowblinds' etc
Thursday, March 31, 2005 by edskii | Discussion: Windows Software
I know it is Zone Alarm causing the problem, because when I turn it off, the images are displayed fine, as they should be.
Just wondering if anyone else uses Zone Alarm, and has the same problem, if so, what options did you change to make the images show properly?.
Its really annoying having to keep turning Zone Alarm off just to view the images.

Enable all, except 3rd party cookies and Private header.
In Options/Ad Blocking, allow all in each site entry.

| I've had a relatively easy time with zoneAlarm as a firewall. |
Same here. I have used it for years. The only problem lately is the update does'nt work because their web site is down, and has been for days. Anything that can get rid of Norton is a good thing!!

Such situation may happen with ZA / ZAP.
Here is its permanent solution:
Open ZAP window.
Click on ‘Privacy’ tab.
Click on Custom tab of ad-blocking.
Select the option "A box I can mouse over to get the ad to appear".
Click OK.
Close ZAP window.
From now your browser will show you a box instead of the picture and as you mouse over, you would get the picture.
As to turn off the ad-blocking feature is not at all preferable, this solution is much better I think. More over the solution is a general solution applicable to all sites you are visiting.

I too have used ZA for years, I will admit in the early years it did have it's share of problems but as time went on those were worked out and it has become one of the better *free firewalls out there (in my opinion)
As for the Nortons..LoL..I use it also..(Internet Security suite currently)..and have also used it for years..While it does have it's own unique set of issues, it is better than most and has infact saved my butt more than a few times, So I cant simply ignore that..just have to learn to adapt to the program and get the most out of what it has to offer..Nortons does have good intentions at least!..LoL.
I have used Fprot, Mcafee and a few others that I do not even remember the names of and still havent found anything that works quite as well *for me* than Nortons..
That isnt to say that there arent better AV scanners out there, or security suites, but Nortons has been around for a *very long time and is at least dependable as far as locating pesky Virus and Trojans..::nods:: it will miss things now and again, or get a bit confused..but then nothing is perfect, is it?
Just felt the need to put in a "good" word for a program that has been useful, at least for me.
Zero.

Hi Zero, I thought I would tell you that I enjoy the system works prog. It is a nice utility that I have used for years. Hope I did'nt upset you with my comment. I just prefer AVG pro and ZA, although ZA has been irritating lately cuz their update site has been down for days. Their help department only has one answer to 90% of problems. "clean install" yadayadayada. At least I have'nt missed any updates...yet.

As for "Help Desk" solutions..::laughs:: I dont even want to get started on that..I'll just say I have yet to find one for any program that even measures "Suitable" these days..I get Waaaay more help here by people that arent even directly involved with the programs that they help solve the issue's for.
No Worries,
Zero.
