You need the Sysmetrix program to use the skins you download from the Sysmetrix library. Get it here http://www.xymantix.com/sysmetrix/download.html It comes with a few skins...start it, right click on the skin and select "Sysmetrix configuration" . At the bottom right, click "Import Theme" and navigate to where you downloaded the Sysmetrix skin from the library to. Click on it to install, and then find it in the list and click on "Load". It's easier to do than explain. To take a screenshot, get the desk setup the way you want it and hit the Prt Scr key on the top row of your keyboard on the right side. Open a graphics program, such as MS Paint or any other, click the ctrl+V keys to paste it in, then click the File menu at the top left of your window, click "save as" ....give it a name and save it as a .jpg. I'm a lousy teacher, but that should give you an idea..I'm sure someone else will explain it better...good luck

I don't use Sysmetrix, but I know this much: If you have XP SP2 (you can tell by right clicking on 'My Computer' and then 'Properties.' It will be at the top of the page) compressed files will automatically be downloaded as a ZIP file, if it does this when downloading click 'Save' and select 'All files' under file type, and put the sysmetrix file extension (whatever it is) behind the name with a period before it. Example: example.fileextension

If you import from the Sysmetrix configuration window, it imports .zip files also and installs them...then you can just load them from there and exit the window

| C'mon guys..im gonna need some help here..LoL First of all..are you using Windows XP for your operating system? Thats important because if you are using older versions of windows bad things can happen to your PC that will be tricky to fix without losing everything.. |

Isnt that I do not know how Jafo, If I do not know something I am not afraid to admit it, because then I may learn something new. It seems as though he may require quite a bit and im not going to be here to offer it, all the time, I was just getting peoples attention to help him out..plus I felt as though people were a little hesitant due to the age of the person.
I am quite familiar with Sysmetrix, Rainlender, Windows, Windowblinds,not to mention a TON of others..as you should know by now..at least I would hope..
I wanted to begin with the OS since I have had 3 different people that I know personally have trouble installing Sysmetrix on Win98, it seems the program corrupts an OCX file and totally freezes the OS, even though on the site it claims to have been tested on the OS..it just doesnt work with windows98.In each case I have had to walk them through reinstalling the file through system file checker and their Win98 installation disk to get them up & running again.
I have been meaning to leave feedback at the site about this, I just havent yet..
What led you to assume I couldn't help?

Oh....starting with a comparatively unrelated question.
You may as well have started even more obscurely with 'you DO have the computer turned on?'...
There are two questions.
Answer to the first....you need the Sysmetrix Program to run the skins...it's available at... http://www.xymantix.com/sysmetrix/ .
Answer to second....there is a 'print screen' button on your keyboard [top row...to the right of the Function keys....'Prt Scr'] that will capture your desktop to the clipboard...open a graphics proggy and 'paste to' and you will have your image.
It is better to help than to confuse. there's no prize for feeling compelled to comment on each and every thread, no matter what...

And by directing this person there, armed with a link but not with all the knowledge of what may happen if installed upon the wrong OS, might I not be somewhat responsible for something that may or may not happen to the machine due to my own negligence to find out all the facts before saying "yeah, go ahead and install this, this is what you need"
The question was *very related to the answer, I suppose it depends upon your point of view..First things first, find out if the user has a compatible system, then give him/her the information/answer to the question..
If he/she is running a Win98 OS Jafo then - Answer to the first....you need the Sysmetrix Program to run the skins...it's available at... http://www.xymantix.com/sysmetrix/ Link . is the *Wrong answer.
Granted, I could have answered the second question, there was no harm in that one at all, but I find it generally (with some people at least) a good idea to begin with *Step 1 and *1 step at a time* to prevent confusion and the possibility of something going wrong. It really sucks when your machines down and it could have been avoided had the person/persons been a bit more patient and clear in the way they handed out instructions.
I mean to say that alot of this stuff we take for granted because we have just done it all to often, sometimes details are left out, not on purpose, and not because we do not know, it's because to us it's redundant..Put yourself in the person's place who is asking, this may be a completely different world to them and it shall take a bit more time and explaining than it would to someone who is "Savvy".
So on that note. I disagree Jafo, your method is incorrect and rather dangerous as it moves past the basic first step and assumes the person is using an OS capable of running Sysmetrix when all you had to do was ask..or at least warn in your answer as you hand out the link.
As for this..
I dont reply to every thread, and I certainly am not doing it for any prize other than just being helpful, if I can. There is much I dont know about the other Stardock programs and all I do is read the threads and learn from the answers.
I would not have answered this particular thread had it not been for the fact it had been sitting for awhile and it looked like it would slip away un-answered.

Thats important because if you are using older versions of windows bad things can happen to your PC that will be tricky to fix without losing everything..
